Sigh. Ciao.
A sincere apology to those of you who have been patiently waiting for me to start a blog. Two and a half weeks into the program, I’ve finally set one up, motivated largely by the fact that it will allow me to further put off my Italian homework (a formal 30 minute interview with a local), which despite my slowly improving language abilities, is a pretty intimidating task.
For those of you who are not aware, I’m currently in beautiful, charming Orvieto, Italy, for a 5 week program through U of A. I will be returning to Minnesota from the 4th of July until early September, and then flying back to Italy for the academic year (Siena in the fall, for a service-based language immersion program, and most likely an art school in Florence for the spring semester).
Orvieto is a small town on a hill in Umbria, located at about the halfway point between Rome and Florence. While here, we take classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, and generally have field trips on Wednesdays and Fridays. Today is my first “free” day since I’ve been here, which basically means I don’t get to go on the field trip, which is a tour of Assisi and Perugia. Hence, my reunion with the good old internet, which I only have access to on weekdays during the day.
Since my journal entry for the first day and a half of my trip was a full 8 and a half pages long, I will try to stick to the highlights for my sanity and your reading pleasure. Anyway, thank you for joining me on my very first blogging experience, and I hope anyone who cares enough to read this will keep me updated on their lives as well. My email address is still alobl@email.arizona.edu.
Baci,
Adrienne
